Design process:
1) Study of the city and research on its past and present structure;
2) Processing and analysis the data gathered;
3) Creation of the final design; Design characteristics:
1) Revitalization of the external structure of the historic district (Chahar-Bagh) as a historical heritage;
2) Connecting the external and internal sections of the historic axis to each other;
3) Revitalization of all the historical gardens and sites within the district;
4) Creating a stronger tourist attraction in the city;
5) Conversion of function of the axis from a roadway to a walkway;
6) Creation of 3 cityscapes, one at the beginning of the Chahar-Bagh(Koran Gate square), the second at the end of the Chahar-Bagh (Esfahan Gate square) and the third in the middle of the Chahar-Bagh named Farhang square;
7) Development of smaller “Cultural Axis” alongside and parallel to the historical axis composed of “Haft tanan”, “Chehel magham” and “Shah shoja” temples
Site:
60 hectares of proposed urban planning in the northern limits of Shiraz historic district, starting from the “Koran gate” to the northern entry of the historic bazaar (Isfahan gate). Many of the historic sites and gardens of the city are located in this area such as Hafeziyeh and Jahan-nama gardens.
Program:
The goal was to propose, revitalization for the historic district.
